The National Gallery of Art awarded a fellowship to fund my attendance to their 2023 Summer Institute for Educators.
Dillon-Bell/Morrison Scholarship, San Antonio Art Education Association, 2023
The San Antonio Art Education association awarded a scholarship for me to attend a digital art course at Southwest School of Art.
Educator Workshop Scholarship, Spare Parts Center for Creative Re-use, 2023
Spare Parts awarded a scholarship for me to attend four of their workshops centered around sustainability in the arts.
Texas Art Education Foundation Scholarship for Leadership Award, 2022
TAEF awarded $500 to fund my attendance to School for Art Leaders through the National Art Education Association.
Resource Grant, Northside Independent School District Education Foundation, 2024
I was awarded a $748 grant to purchase cross curricular STEAM materials for the art room.
Texas Art Education Foundation Grant, 2023
I was awarded a $500 grant to attend Stephen F. Austin University’s Art Educators Studio.
Classroom Assistance Grant, Texas Retired Teachers Foundation, 2023
I was awarded a $750 grant to purchase an iPad and a lightbox for students to create digital portfolios and write artist statements.
San Antonio ISD Mini Grant, San Antonio Independent School District Foundation, 2023
I was awarded approximately $500 grant to fund mixed media projects for kindergarten through fifth grade students
New Teacher Grant, San Antonio Independent School District Foundation, 2022
I was awarded a $100 grant to fund a fiber arts project for third through fifth grade students.
Disability Studies in Art Education Graduate Award for Master’s Thesis, National Art Education Association, 2022
The DSAE award recognizes an outstanding master’s thesis in art education with a focus on disability studies.
2022-2023 Leadership Scholar, Texas Art Education Association
Selected to be part of the 2022-2023 Leadership Scholar cohort for the Texas Art Education Association. The Leadership Scholars program is a leadership development professional development program for art educators.
Outstanding Graduate Student Advocate Award, Student Life Disability Services, The Ohio State University, 2020
Awarded to a graduate student at Ohio State University who has made an exemplary commitment to access and inclusion on campus and in the community.

“The 2020 Outstanding Graduate Student Advocate has been awarded by Student Life Disability Services to Shannon Thacker Cregg. Shannon recently received her Master’s degree in the Department of Arts, Administration and Policy. She has been an exemplary advocate for disability access and inclusion as a scholar, presenting multiple poster presentations on the intersection of art museum education and disability. As a Teaching Assistant she attended to curricular and digital course accessibility. She implemented professional development workshops at the Columbus Museum of Art for artists with and without disabilities, has volunteered at the Reel Abilities Film Festival and mentored student artists. Shannon has interned at Art Possible, where she helped write grants to fund arts programming for residents of Boundless, which helps counteract the stigma associated with mental health diagnoses through exhibitions. Congratulations and thank you, Shannon, for your dedication!”

Named Distinguished Scholar by the College of Arts and Sciences, 2014
Awarded by the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Alabama for earning all A and A+ grades throughout my undergraduate career.
The Windgate Charitable Foundation Endowed Studio Arts Scholarship, Spring 2013 to Fall 2014
Awarded by the University of Alabama Department of Art and Art History on the basis of a faculty portfolio review and academic merit. This was the highest scholarship awarded in the Department of Art, granted to only a select few students.
Scholarship to Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Spring 2013
Annually one student is selected at the University of Alabama to attend a workshop at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. I participated in a weeklong class on paper making and paper casting.
Honorable mention at West Alabama Juried Show, Fall 2013
The West Alabama Juried Show is a yearly juried exhibition open to artists residing in West Alabama.
Windgate Research Fellowship, Fall 2012 to Spring 2013
I was awarded a Windgate Research Fellowship to work collaboratively with Kayla Huguley, a printmaking student, to create a six-foot screen-printed work inspired by research on Renaissance altarpieces. The piece, Of Earths and Heavens was exhibited in The Windgate Fellows Exhibition at The University of Alabama along with the work of eight other Windgate Fellows.

Selected by the University of Alabama Department of Art and Art History on the basis of a faculty portfolio review and academic performance. It was the second highest scholarship awarded in the Department of Art and Art History that year.
Elizabeth B. Bashinky Art Scholarship and the Alvin C. Joseph Stella Art Scholarship, Spring 2011 to Fall 2012
Awarded two scholarships from the University of Alabama Department of Art and Art History based on a faculty portfolio review and academic performance. This scholarship was the highest award available in the Department of Art and Art History and was granted to only a select few students that year.

Awarded by the University of Alabama for academic performance to out-of-state entering freshmen.
